Art Monk

Art Monk, (born December 5, 1957 in White Plains, New York), was a Pro Bowl wide receiver. Nicknamed the Quiet Man or simply No. 81 for his humble and quiet demeanor, he played collegiately for Syracuse University as a running back. The Washington Redskins drafted him in 1980 and converted him to wide receiver. Along with Gary Clark and Ricky Sanders, he was part of a prolific wide receiver trio nicknamed The Posse, as all three receivers had 1000 yards-plus seasons. At the end of his career, he played briefly for the New York Jets.

During his career, he broke various records in the NFL; his most famous record held was the record for career receptions at 940, later broken by Jerry Rice; despite breaking several NFL records, Art Monk has been passed several times for entry into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Monk helped found the Good Samaritan Foundation with his Washington teammates.
