Bobby McDermott

Robert "Bobby" McDermott (b. January 7, 1914 in Whitestone Queens, New York - d. October 3, 1963 in Yonkers, New York) was a pro basketball player. He was known as an outstanding shooter (though using the two-handed set shot) and has been called "the greatest long-distance shooter in the history of the game" by contemporaries. McDermott lead the NBL in scoring four times between 1942 and 1945. He was also named the leagues MVP five times (42-46) while playing for the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons . He later teamed with George Mikan while serving as player/coach of the Chicago American Gears .
