Lonestar Showdown

The Lonestar Showdown is the official moniker for all varsity men's and women's athletics competition between Texas A&M University and the University of Texas. The already storied rivalry series between the state's two flagship institutions of higher education showcases and enhances one of the best rivalries in all of college athletics. Both universities boast huge living alumni bases, over 665,000, and a significant following from supporters throughout the state and the nation follow this rivilary.

Series History and Standings

2005 is the inaugural year for the Lonestar Showdown.

As of 12 April, Texas is leading the inaugural Lonestar Showdown 8 to 3. A school needs to achieve 10 points to win. In the event of a tie, the winner of the previous year is deemed the winner of the current year. In the event of a tie in the first year, the winner will be the team who would have won last year (Texas) if the series had been in existence.
