The term microfarad is used to note the storage capacity value of electrolytic capacitors and represents one millionth of a farad, or 0.000 001 farads. It is most often abbreviated µF, UFD, MF, and MFD, although the latter two can be misleading, since it can be mistaken for millifarad . Since millifarad is almost never used in electronics engineering, this discrepency is usually not a problem.
